Dr. Mehdi Zeidouni

Dr. Mehdi Zeidouni, Associate Professor and Donald W. Clayton Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at LSU, brings many years of experience with CCS site evaluation, characterization, injection strategy(ies), monitoring design, and analysis to the research team. Dr. Zeidouni has done technical work in the field sponsored by the DOE, the state of Louisiana, and industry partners, on various topics including pressure/temperature monitoring; evaluating the integrity of faults, legacy wells, and caprock; and site screening and evaluation. For TXLACMC, he will work on research related to temperature monitoring at injection and observation wells. LSU’s Department of Petroleum Engineering offers the first undergraduate program in CCS in the United States, within which Dr. Zeidouni teaches classes and mentors students. For TXLACMC, he will work with Dr. Becker to extend the outreach of LSU’s CCS activities.

 

Dr. Sarah Becker

Dr. Sarah Becker, Associate Professor of African & African American Studies and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies and Director of the Center for Community Engagement, Learning, & Leadership (CCELL) at LSU, brings decades of experience with community-based teaching and scholarship to the team. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Becker has developed service-learning pedagogies that meet community identified needs while cultivating students’ research skills. For TXLACMC, she will work with Dr. Zeidouni to create the first service-learning course in Petroleum Engineering at LSU, where participants will work with community partners to educate sectors of the public about CCS. She and Dr. Zeidouni will also work with local partners to host CCS events on campus that facilitate technical discussions between industry, regulators, and other stakeholders.
